I had an omelette lunch by the seaside in a small town in Portugal. I watched people go by and imagined what their lives were like. I read my book and escaped.
I ordered a second coffee.
The first sip burnt my throat- it was then that I knew I had forgotten my wallet.
I sat and drank the coffee- visibly dodgy.
Slowly I got up, gathered my belongings and walked out.
Like a practiced criminal.
I turned the corner and raced through the old streets, zigzagging, certain the cops would be out all night hunting for me.
The omelette thief.
